A meeting of representatives of the parties to the International Railway Transit Tariff Agreement is being held in Ashgabat

The 34th meeting of representatives of the parties to the International Railway Transit Tariff  Agreement is being held in Ashgabat from May 15 to 18.

This year's meeting is devoted to the improvement and updating of the agreement between 20 countries with uniform rules and tariffs for the transportation of goods in transit mode by rail.

The Agreement, which entered into force in 1997, contributes to the development of transport infrastructure, an increase in freight traffic, an increase in the competitiveness of rail transport and closer cooperation between the countries participating in the agreement.

Chairman of the OSJD Commission on Freight Zubaida Aspayeva noted:
"This event is important because it takes place in Turkmenistan, one of the key member states of the Organization for Co-operation between Railways. All participants gathered here to discuss issues related to tariffs for transit cargo transportation and the establishment of uniform tariff rules in the vast Asian space. This is of key importance for all OSJD member countries. And Turkmenistan is one of our most important strategic partners in transportation from Europe to Asia."

Z.Aspayeva stressed that the resolution of issues during the meeting will contribute to the growth of traffic volume along the international transport corridors "North - South", "East - West", as well as the expansion of the range of goods.
