Turkmenistan's transport policy creates global trends of economic development

The vector of global development in the transport and logistics sector is confidently set by the transport policy of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the field of sustainable transport.

At the 70th plenary session of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, on the eve of the celebration of the Constitution Day and the State Flag of Turkmenistan, on the initiative of Ashgabat, with the co-authorship of 67 UN member states, a resolution was unanimously adopted, according to which November 26 was declared World Sustainable Transport Day.

The document calls on UN Member States, international, regional organizations and civil society to celebrate the World Day of Sustainable Transport by conducting educational work and events aimed at expanding public knowledge in the field of sustainable transport and promoting the development of environmentally friendly transport.

As you know, the first Global Conference on Sustainable Transport of the United Nations was held in Ashgabat on November 26, 2016. Therefore, the choice of the date of the World Sustainable Transport Day is deeply symbolic – November 26 every year.

In this Resolution, the Community of Nations welcomed the efforts of the Government of Turkmenistan related to the organization of the first UN Global Conference on Sustainable Transport in Ashgabat in 2016, as well as the Conference of Ministers of Transport of Landlocked Developing Countries in Avaza in 2022.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a number of relevant initiatives at the Central Asia-China Summit held in the Chinese city of Xi'an. The Head of State called on the Central Asian countries and China to realize the potential of the transport partnership.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted:

"We are ready to expand cooperation in the transport sector, the main factor of which is the existence of objective mutual interests of the Central Asian countries and China."
