Turkmen-Afghan negotiations on transit cargo transportation were held

An online meeting was held between representatives of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan on transit cargo transportation.

On the Turkmen side, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the State migration, Customs and Border services of Turkmenistan, as well as the Agency "Turkmenautoulaglary" of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan participated in the meeting.

The Afghan side was represented by employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, Customs, Trade and Oil and Gas departments of Afghanistan.

The sides discussed issues related to the expansion of cooperation in the field of transit cargo transportation through Afghanistan.

Turkmenistan, developing its transport infrastructure, is an active participant in the implementation of international projects to create transit corridors. The Lapis lazuli Corridor is one of such projects. It is a multimodal transport route Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey.

The lapis lazuli corridor is the optimal way to bring Afghan goods to European markets.
