Events in honor of the 300th anniversary of the great Magtymguly Fragi are expanding
Since the first days of 2024, in accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan "On the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great thinker and classic poet of the East Makhtumkuli Fraga", comprehensive work has been carried out in the country and abroad to study and popularize in the world the rich and priceless literary heritage of the outstanding master of the word, who entered the treasury of the spiritual culture of mankind and which became the basis of the national school for the formation of high morality, humanism and patriotism among the younger generation.
The content and ideological message of this year's motto "The Storehouse of the mind of Makhtumkuli Fraga" is designed to raise the patriotic spirit, promote the education of young people, inspire Turkmen people to new achievements for the sake of further prosperity of the Motherland.
As you know, the collection of manuscripts of the Turkmen poet and philosopher Makhtumkuli Fragi is included in the International Register of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Program "Memory of the world". In addition, the 300th anniversary of Makhtumkuli Fraga was included in the List of significant dates for joint celebration with UNESCO in 2024-2025, as well as the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), 2024 was proclaimed the year of Makhtumkuli Fragi.
In this regard, a number of major events with the participation of numerous guests are planned to be held in our country during the year: international Olympiads at universities, creative and promotional events, briefings, media forums, seminars, exhibitions, online scientific and practical conferences, song and music celebrations.
On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding poet and thinker, the opening ceremony of the Makhtumkuli Fragi cultural and park complex will take place. The majestic monument erected in the southern part of Ashgabat is a symbol of the Turkmen people's deep reverence for the memory and creative heritage of the brilliant poet and philosopher.
The initiator of the project to create a cultural and park complex in the picturesque foothills of Kopetdag, dedicated to the famous classic of Russian literature, is the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Honorary Elder Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who constantly keeps the progress of the work in the spotlight.
At the suggestion of the Arkadaga Hero, sculptures of famous personalities, prominent writers and masters of the word of foreign countries will also be installed here. This will become the personification of the triumph of friendship, brotherhood and good neighborliness of peoples, which Makhtumkuli Fragi called for in his immortal works.
At an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on February 9, Head of State Serdar Berdimuhamedov, stressing that a lot of work is currently being done to study and popularize the rich literary heritage of Makhtumkuli Fraga in the world, signed the Law of Turkmenistan "On the establishment of the jubilee medal of Turkmenistan "Magtymguly Pyragyny for 300 years".
The great merit of professors and teachers, writers, and creative workers in this matter was noted. At the same time, foreign citizens also make a significant contribution.
In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan ordered to prepare proposals on awarding representatives of the creative intelligentsia of our country and foreign countries with the established medal and the Makhtumkuli International Prize.
On the occasion of the announcement of 2024 as the "Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World – Makhtumkuli Fragi", issues related to the holding of events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the outstanding poet and philosopher were also discussed at the regular meeting of the National Commission of Turkmenistan on the Activities of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), held on January 20.
It should be noted that in honor of the proclamation of the motto of 2024 "The Storehouse of the mind of Makhtumkuli Fragi" and the anniversary of the classic poet of the East, various meetings and forums are held not only in our country, but also abroad.
Nowadays, the poetry of Makhtumkuli Fragi sounds with renewed vigor, having become an envoy of the goodwill of the Turkmen people in the development and strengthening of international humanitarian ties.
The creative legacy of the great poet and thinker is an invaluable national treasure and an integral part of the treasury of world culture. His poems resonate in the hearts of people, as they have found vivid expression of enduring universal values – love of the Motherland, humanism, peacefulness, a call to creation, friendship and brotherhood.
On February 18, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country hosted the International Conference "Makhtumkuli Fragi's Concept of Peace and Diplomacy of Neutral Turkmenistan".
As the forum participants noted, the poet's civic position is based on respect for other peoples and good neighborliness, democracy and traditionalism.
It is these principles that formed the basis of the content of Turkmenistan's neutrality and continue to be a source of wisdom, continuity and relevance of our country's diplomatic line, which is called the dialogue of civilizations. Today we can say that Makhtumkuli was an outstanding diplomat, since the foreign policy of the Motherland is a continuation of the ideas of the famous poet and philosopher, his ideas about the world and the role of the Turkmen people in it.
As the diplomats stressed, a number of international events are planned this year on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Makhtumkuli Fraga. Friendly countries are ready to contribute to their organization and take an active part in them.
In this context, in connection with the 300th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Turkmen poet and philosopher, the Embassies of Turkmenistan have been held since last year in Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Russia, Korea, Armenia, the United States, Japan, Iran, Pakistan, India, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom scientific forums, creative weeks, film and video screenings, literary evenings and contests.
In particular, at the international scientific conference held on January 5, organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Turkey jointly with the Ankara University of Social Sciences and the Union of Engineers and Architects of the Turkic World, it was noted that the widespread celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Makhtumkuli Fraga is a confirmation of the recognition of the work of the great poet and thinker of the East at the world level.
The thematic meeting held on January 16 at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan ended with the screening of the documentary film "Hakyan guly – Magtymguly", shot in Baku by the Oguzkhan Türkmenfilm Association.
On January 23, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia organized a "round table" dedicated to the motto "The Storehouse of the mind of Makhtumkuli Fragi". The participants of the meeting stressed that the events scheduled for the poet's anniversary are designed to promote further study and wide popularization in the world of the richest literary heritage of Makhtumkuli, an outstanding master of words and philosopher who elevated not only Turkmen, but also world literature.
On the same day, an event was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine, during which poems were recited and vocal numbers were performed to the words of Arkadag's poems "The Storehouse of Reason Makhtumkuli Fragi" and Makhtumkuli in Turkmen and Ukrainian. The participants were shown the film "Magtymguly" about the poet's life path.
The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine solemnly donated valuable exhibits of the cultural heritage of Turkmenistan and books in different languages sent by the Ministry of Culture of our country to the Makhtumkuli Museum.
On January 25, thematic briefings were organized at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kyrgyz Republic, the participants of which emphasized the special importance of Makhtumkuli's creative heritage, which has become an integral part of the treasury of world culture.
On January 29, at a meeting at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Romania, it was noted that today the work of Makhtumkuli Fraga is widely popular in the world, his beautiful poems are translated into dozens of languages, including Romanian.
On January 30, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation organized a round table in Moscow dedicated to the motto of the year in honor of the 300th anniversary of the classic of Turkmen poetry, philosopher and thinker of the East.
The importance of Makhtumkuli's works was particularly emphasized, which to this day are a storehouse of spiritual wisdom, a source of morality, patriotism, and an unsurpassed school of education for the younger generation.
The event was accompanied by a video clip telling about the achievements of modern Turkmenistan, as well as poems by an outstanding master of patriotic speech performed by Turkmen students studying at Russian universities.
At the meeting held on February 3 at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Korea, dedicated to the motto "The Storehouse of the mind of Makhtumkuli Fraga", the great importance in world literature and culture of the creative heritage of the great poet, calling humanity to unity, cohesion and humanism, was emphasized.
On February 8, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation organized a meeting in St. Petersburg on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the classic of Turkmen poetry, philosopher and outstanding thinker of the East Makhtumkuli Fragi.
It was noted that the upcoming major international events include the opening of the Makhtumkuli monument in St. Petersburg, international scientific conferences and round tables in Moscow, Kazan, Astrakhan, Voronezh and other cities of the Russian Federation.
On February 13-14, Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, hosted a photo exhibition dedicated to the motto of 2024 in Turkmenistan "The Storehouse of the Mind of Makhtumkuli Fragi", as well as the 300th anniversary of the poet.
The organizers were the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Armenia and the Union of Artists of Armenia. It was emphasized at the event that the works of Makhtumkuli Fraga were translated into Armenian and published in 1959, 1983 and 2014.
