Ashgabat claims to the title of “City of New Sports Opportunities in the CIS”

At a meeting of the expert group at the CIS headquarters on May 15, a draft decision on declaring Ashgabat the “City of New Sports Opportunities of the Commonwealth” was discussed, reports the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

Representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the CIS Executive Committee took part in the meeting.

Following the meeting, the draft decision was agreed upon at the expert level and sent to the governments of the CIS member states for consideration at the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth.

The CIS Executive Committee, together with the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan, has been instructed to include the issue of the Concept of preparation and holding of the Friendship Games on the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the Council on Physical Culture and Sports, which will be held on May 23-25 in Gyumri (Armenia).
