Hyundai recruits Porsche and Apple iCar lead engineer

Manfred Harrer, a seasoned specialist with extensive experience at Audi, BMW, Porsche and Apple, will now lead the development of Hyundai's high-performance and luxury vehicles.

In May 2024, Hyundai Motor Group announced the appointment of 51 years old German engineer Manfred Harrer as executive vice president and head of the new technical division Genesis & Performance Development.
Harrer has extensive experience in the automotive industry. For 14 years he worked at Porsche, where he took part in the development of such iconic models as the Cayenne and Taycan. In 2021, he moved to Apple, where he joined the team working on the Titan electric car project.

Despite the fact that Apple subsequently canceled the Titan project, Harrer did not remain idle. His wealth of experience and knowledge attracted the attention of Hyundai, which invited him to head a new division responsible for the development of future Genesis models and high-performance Hyundai N cars.
