Tesla will recall more than 125 thousand electric vehicles due to problems with seat belts

More than 125 thousand Tesla electric vehicles of different models and years of production are subject to recall due to a malfunction of the seat belt warning system. This was reported by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), writes auto.ru.

The problem is that in some cases the sensors that detect the presence of a person in the chair may not work correctly. Because of this, the system does not always work and does not provide timely visual and audio signals about the need to buckle up.

The recall will affect: Model S liftbacks (2012-2024), Model X SUVs (2016-2024), Model 3 sedans (2017-2023), Model Y crossovers (2020-2023).

To fix the problem, Tesla plans to update the software of electric vehicles over the air. This will permit the system to notify about unfastened seat belts after starting the electric vehicle, regardless of the readings of the presence sensor. Owners of problem Teslas will not need to visit the service.
