2380 Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles in China are being recalled due to risk of loss of power

Mercedes-Benz has announced a recall of 2380 EQ electric vehicles that were sold in China in 2023 and 2024. The reason for the recall was a potential problem that could lead to a sudden loss of power while driving, reports auto.ru.

The recall will affect 2341 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUVs produced in Beijing by the Beijing Benz joint venture from November 1, 2023 to April 25, 2024.

Also included in the recall are 39 imported EQS SUVs manufactured from November 28, 2023 to February 7, 2024.

The problem lies with the battery management system software, which does not correctly process diagnostic requests from some control units. This can cause the battery to shut down while driving and cause a sudden loss of power, which poses a potential safety hazard.

Mercedes-Benz will update the software on all recalled vehicles free of charge. Owners will be notified by the vehicle manufacturer and invited to their nearest dealership to have the necessary work performed.
