Russian coal sent to India via Turkmenistan for the first time

Russian coal was sent to India through the territory of Turkmenistan for the first time.

In particular, two trains with coal from the Kemerovo region were sent to India along the eastern branch of the international North-South transport corridor, TASS reports with reference to the social networks of Russian Railways.

“Trains started from the Kemerovo region. We followed the eastern branch of the ITC through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. At the Turkmen-Iranian border, coal was loaded into 1,435 mm gauge wagons of Iran's railways. The last part of the journey from the port of Bandar Abbas to the port of Mumbai will be covered by solid fuel by sea,” the statement said.

For reference: on the railways of Russia and Turkmenistan, cars run with wheels with a diameter of 1520 mm, and on the railways of Iran - with wheels with a diameter of 1435 mm.

The two trains, consisting of 59 carriages each, will travel 1,600 kilometers to India, the source said.
