Students of Turkmenistan won 14 medals at the Mathematical Olympiad in Bulgaria

Fourteen medals of various denominations were won by Turkmen participants of the 31st International Student Mathematical Olympiad, which was held in the city of Blagoevgrad in the Republic of Bulgaria from August 5 to 11.

In total, Turkmen students won 3 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze medals.

The national team included students from the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly, the International University of Humanities and Development, the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi and the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan.

The winners of gold awards were: Shabibi Nurjanova, 3rd year student of the Faculty of Mathematics of TSU named after Magtymguly; Myratgeldi Annamuhammedov, 3rd year student of the Faculty of Information Technologies of the International University of Humanities and Development; Kadyrberdi Annabaev, 5th year student of the Faculty of Economics and Management of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering.

Students from 60 countries of the world – over 400 participants – provided serious competition to the guys from Turkmenistan.

The leaders of the Turkmen team and mentors of its participants were Agaserdar Yollyev, a teacher at the Department of Mathematical Analysis of TSU named after Makhtumkuli, and Murad Chashemov, a teacher at the Department of Computer Technologies and Systems at the Moscow State University of Science and Technology.

For the first time, the “Most Experienced Team Leader” competition was held within the framework of the International Mathematical Olympiad. According to its results, the mentor of Turkmen experts, Agaserdar Yollyev, took an honorable second place. The victory in the Olympiad for team leaders is the first in the history of Turkmenistan.

The Olympiad was organized jointly with the American University in Bulgaria and University College London.
