Nissan Z may get an off-road version

Nissan is preparing an unexpected twist in the world of sports cars: the Z coupe may get an off-road version. The Australian publication Car Sales discovered an application for the “Z Warrior” trademark in the local patent office, which hints at a possible expansion of the model line, writes Motor.ru.

The idea of creating a “raised” Z is not new. Last year at SEMA, the Safari Rally Z Tribute concept was unveiled as a tribute to the 1971 rally winner, the Nissan 240Z. The prototype featured off-road tires, reinforced suspension and underbody protection.

The management of the Australian division of Nissan supports the idea of expanding the off-road range.

The arrival of the off-road Z could fill the gap left by the limited-edition Porsche 911 Dakar and Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato. These models proved that there was a demand for high-performance vehicles with off-road capabilities.

It remains to be seen whether the Z Warrior will become a global model or remain exclusive to the Australian market.
