Xiaomi plans to release a family hybrid crossover Kunlun

Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi is preparing to expand its line of electric vehicles by announcing the development of Kunlun, its third vehicle, reports auto.ru.

Unlike the first two models, the SU7 sedan and its all-electric sibling, the Lemang, the Kunlun will be a hybrid crossover. It is expected to be positioned as Xiaomi's most affordable car when it debuts in 2026.

According to sources, the Kunlun will be equipped with a hybrid powertrain consisting of electric traction motors and a gasoline engine that acts as a “range extender”. This scheme was not chosen by chance, since in China there is an increase in the popularity of hybrid cars.

In an effort to make the Kunlun as affordable as possible, Xiaomi is considering using cheaper components in some parts of the design. It is especially emphasized that the savings will not affect elements that affect safety.
