Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan discussed a wide range of issues at a meeting of the Joint Commission

The 18th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation was held in Tashkent, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

The meeting was attended by heads and representatives of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Batyr Atdayev. The Uzbek delegation was headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Zhamshid Khojaev.

The parties discussed the progress in implementing the agreements reached following the results of the previous meeting of the Joint Commission. It was noted that regular and constructive contacts between the leaders of the two countries are an effective impetus for the further development of Turkmen-Uzbek relations on various aspects of interstate interaction.

At the meeting, issues of expanding trade and economic cooperation and industrial cooperation, strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy and transport and logistics spheres were discussed.

An exchange of views took place regarding cooperation in the field of agriculture and water management, in particular the use of water resources in the region. Issues of environmental protection and key aspects of scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation were also discussed.

Based on the results of the work of the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Commission, the Protocol of the 18th meeting was signed.
