Nissan, Honda and Mitsubishi to Form New Alliance

Three of Japan's largest automakers, Nissan, Honda and Mitsubishi, are preparing to join forces. The new alliance is expected to become the second largest in the world, with annual sales of more than 8 million cars, auto.ru reports.

The goal of the merger is to counter growing competition from Tesla and Chinese automakers. The partners plan to jointly develop electric vehicles, smart technologies and standardize software.

The decision comes as a result of the restructuring of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance and the Japanese companies' desire to strengthen their positions in key markets such as the United States and China.
