Transport workers of Turkmenistan took part in KazanForum

Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications Mammethan Chakyev, who headed the Turkmen delegation at the KazanForum International Economic Forum, took part in the meeting of the Strategic Vision Group "Russia – the Islamic World".

The event was also attended by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, representatives of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iran, Egypt, Kuwait, Indonesia and other countries.

Mammethan Chakyev also met with the General Director of the holding company "Ak Bars" Ivan Egorov. The parties held talks on further cooperation in the field of shipbuilding.

Within the framework of the forum, a separate session was held on the topic "Infrastructure conditions for the development of cooperation in the field of industry, transport and logistics between Russia and Turkmenistan". This session was attended by representatives of the delegation of a number of Russian regions, as well as Afghanistan.

During the session, Mammethan Chakyev noted the active work to increase cargo transportation through the transport corridorwith the Astrakhan region.

"We have signed a memorandum on the establishment of a logistics center in the port special economic zone of the Astrakhan region," he said. – I am sure that this center will become an incentive for the growth of cargo transportation and the further development of the North–South corridor.

Afghanistan is considering the possibility of developing cargo transportation along the Caspian Sea, using the port in Turkmenistan, and then through the Russian ports of Olya and Makhachkala, the Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan Azizi Nuriddin said.

"This new route will allow us to deliver goods from Afghanistan and other countries of our region to Russia and in the opposite direction," he said.

"Turkmenistan is one of the main partners for us," said Denis Afanasyev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Astrakhan region, citing examples of cooperation in shipbuilding.

"At the moment, the negotiations of the United Shipbuilding Corporation with the agency "Turkmen Sea and River Routes" and the Balkan Shipyard are continuing on the issue of joint construction of a transport fleet – multi–purpose bulk carriers," he said. – In April last year, the expert group of JSC "USC" visited the Balkan enterprise in Turkmenistan and conducted an audit of the production and technological capabilities of the plant. As a result of the visit, a variant of the division of work and supplies between the Russian and Turkmen sides was proposed."

The session was also attended by the head of the port of Turkmenbashi Seyitguly Bayseyidov, Deputy General Director of the OJSC "Turkmen Railways" Allaguly Khudaiberdiyev, General Director of the Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan Merdan Byashimov and others.
